2022-23AY Dissertation Scholar Search

The Department of Black Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for two Dissertation Fellowship Scholars for the academic year 2022-23. We seek Dissertation Scholars working in Interdisciplinary, Social Science, Humanities, and STEM disciplines whose research focus is specifically situated within Black Studies. The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research and teaching. International applicants are welcome to apply.

The nine-month fellowship begins fall quarter of the 2022-23 academic year and scholars are required to be in residence the entire fellowship period, during which time scholars are expected to complete their dissertation. The fellowship award is $42,000. Dissertation Scholars will teach one undergraduate course and present one public lecture.
 
Dissertation Scholars will have the option to rent an unfurnished one-bedroom apartment in Graduate Student Housing. The positions will remain open until filled.
